Course overview

WHMIS is Canada's hazard communication standard. Workers who use or are exposed to hazardous products need WHMIS education so they can read labels, use safety data sheets and protect themselves.

This online course covers the general education part of WHMIS. It explains the roles of suppliers, employers and workers, how to read supplier and workplace labels, what each pictogram and hazard class means, and how to find what you need in a safety data sheet quickly.

The Hazardous Products Regulations were amended in December 2022 to align with a newer edition of the GHS, with the transition ending on December 14, 2025. The course explains the main changes so experienced workers can update their knowledge.

WHMIS also requires site-specific training on the products and procedures at your workplace, which your employer provides.
